LabGenetics offers, within its Department of Technology Transfer, the possibility of carrying out personalized projects to implement and to set up into motion laboratories of Molecular Biology specialized in human genetic analyses, in either Forensic or Clinical Genetics areas.

The designed projects by LabGenetics are completely flexible and adjustable to the needs of each petitioner, while at all times maintaining the maximum quality guarantee.

All projects of the Technology Transfer of LabGenetics are divided in several phases that depending on the requirements of each client can be implemented as a whole or only those which are considered necessary can requested.

1. Project development

In this phase, LabGenetics prepares a technical project moulded to the needs of every client. For this reason it is fundamental to define the specific purpose of each laboratory, the available space, as well as the type and volume of the samples that are expected to be analyzed. Once all of these data is concluded, a personalized project is elaborated which includes:

Laboratory design

Laboratory scale plan is carried out, divided into different rooms, following international recommendations and standards. These plans include the distribution of the laboratory furniture, equipment, electrical installations and acclimatization, etc.

Equipment, materials and necessary reagents list

Depending on the methodological requirements of the project, a list of necessary equipment will be made to ensure the maximum quality in the practiced techniques. Likewise, indispensable materials and reactants are included to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.

Training needs

LabGenetics proposes, depending on the previous knowledge and training of technical staff, a training plan according to the specific needs of each project.

2. Installation and the start-up of the laboratory

Once the project requirements are defined and following the client's approval, LabGenetics will start the installation of the laboratory in the following phases:

Physical laboratory setting up

LabGenetics will do all the necessary physical constructions needed to divide the premises into the different work rooms. Likwise, and depending on the previous existing physical set up, LabGenetics will set up the different rooms according to its previous use (electrical and water installation, acclimatization, access controls, etc).

Furniture

LabGenetics will also design, distribute and install all the furniture of each laboratory room (ledges, chest of drawers, wardrobe, shelves, chairs, etc). This furniture is specifically designed for Molecular Biologic laboratories.

Equipment, materials and reagents

LabGenetics does administer everything related to the purchase of the necessary equipments, materials and reactants for the operation of the future laboratory. With reference to this, LabGenetics, itself, commits itself to providing the most advanced equipments, from the most prestigious trades, guaranteeing its maintenance and supplying spare parts.

Start up

Once the physical set up of the laboratory has been done, LabGenetics will install all the equipment in the different rooms, making certain its optimum operation. At this point, the laboratory is ready to function at maximum performance.

3. Scientific and technical training

A fundamental part of the technology transfer service that LabGenetics offers, is a specific training plan for each project that will depend on the techniques and methodologies that will operate in the laboratory and on the previous technical staff training. The following are some of the characteristics of this service:

  • Training courses are given by technical staff of LabGenetics, highly qualified and with wide experience accredited in the Clinic and Forensic Genetics area.
  • Training plan includes theoretical aspects, not only practical ones. It also includes a complete updated manual, different articles, revisions, standards and recommendations related to the methodology that will be used.
  • All theoretical and practical aspects of the training plan follow the standards, recommendations and guidelines of several international standardization groups.
  • Training will take place in the recent set up laboratory, and once it is concluded, the technical staff will have the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge carry out all the implanted procedures with total reliability and precision.
  • Once the training period has finished, a test to evaluate the competence and training of the technical staff will be done. Once this test has been passed, a certificated will be given.

4. Technical support

Once the technology transfer project has concluded, LabGenetics offers technical support to the laboratory for a minimum one year period. During this period of time, LabGenetics will have a continuous technical support service to solve all the problems and doubts which may arise.
