PrintFrequently asked questions about detection of biological fluids
What is the semen detection test based on?
Semen detection test is based on the semi-quantitative determination of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) also known as p30,which is a protein produced in the prostate and secreted through seminal liquid. Determination of PAS is done by immunoassay chromo-graphic with monoclonal antibodies. The presence of internal control of a known concentration allows the relative quantification of the PSA quantity.
Is it possible to detect bloodstains invisible to the naked eye?
Yes. LabGenetics has the necessary methodology to detect the presence of blood in all kind of materials, even if it is not visible to the naked eye. Once the bloodstain is detected, it is possible to extract the DNA and obtain a genetic profile (genetic-print).
Is it possible to detect biological fluids in a washed garment?
It depends. Semen and saliva stains usually disappear after being washed and cannot be detected. Despite this, blood method detection used in LabGenetics can detect bloodstains in materials that have been washed up to 10 times, although after the 4th wash, it is not possible to separate the DNA from the garment.
What is the cost of a Fluid detection test?
In LabGenetics we analyze each request individually and depending on the kind of requested test, we adjust our prices to the needs of each client. Call us and ask for a quote
